Recent demolitions across several communities in Ivory Coast have left many families facing displacement, hardship, and uncertainty.

On June 10, 2026, Fondation Coeur Dedior conducted a humanitarian assessment visit in Koumassi Campement, Abidjan, to better understand the situation of families affected by the demolitions. During this visit, our team met with affected families and documented significant losses, including homes, businesses, personal belongings, and sources of income.

On June 19, 2026, Fondation Coeur Dedior returned to Koumassi Campement to continue its assessment efforts and provide emergency assistance to affected families. During this visit, the Foundation registered approximately 40 families and distributed rice kits, clean drinking water, and baby clothing.

During our visits, we encountered families living in extremely difficult conditions. Some families have been allowed to sleep on the floor of a nearby mosque, others on classroom floors in a nearby school, while some continue to sleep outdoors on mattresses with their children despite the ongoing rainy season.

Many families continue to express urgent needs for safe shelter, food assistance, clean water, hygiene supplies, clothing, and other basic necessities. Elderly individuals and people with health conditions were among those identified as requiring urgent support.
